Identity

The identities of black men and women are formed by society. This framework started when whites take blacks from Africa. History has shaped the present. They snicker as we stand in the crowd and feel the anxiety that comes from being black. No one understand the struggles and pains that come with the racial identity that Americans prescribed to me. I am a gang-member. A rapper. A no-good leech in society. This is formed from the image that is portrayed on television. No one sees a respected student, a father, a devout Christian, a helpful and caring man. This is the problem when society influences us. We as people are fools to believe that we are separate and not equal. The false belief started and has never ended. The facade that black is not equal to white. The history of independence is falsely stating what is not true. There are many false stereotypes. Lies like blacks are lazy and thefts. We as a people are lower the value of society. This is a joke. The plan is to keep blacks separate and not intelligent enough to see past this barricade. They laugh at us for trying to amount to the same belief that wealth while make us equals to the Caucasian status and ideology of prosperous. I see it daily and it makes me mad. So angry that I want to punch a wall. Why? Let them hold a flicker of hope that we can own a house in Beverly Hills or the Hollywood hills. No, why assimilate to them and be fake. No, no longer. I want to be a leader. The innovator that changes this perspective. Be the hope that makes this world heal. A place where light is not right, black is not wrong. Color needs to just describe clothes or a car, not people. People are more vast and complex to be placed into a simple category like skin tone. Emotions and history affects the way we see ourselves and the people around us. This is the reason why going to school is so not important, it allows cultures and nationalities to be expanded beyond their identities. This need for education does not stop the daily discrimination that black men and women face.
